Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New York

Pro Se -- Held in Contempt -- What are my options?

I am a pro se litigant. The judge has held me in contempt of court and ordered me to pay various fines. I think that he has ignored, disregarded and failed to apply pertinent applicable law to my case, and that he is biased in favor of the party opposing me.

What are my options?

May I write a criticizing letter to the judge, criticizing his disregard of the law and what I see as his bias? Is this ever done? Can it be done?

How do I request a change of venue so that another judge who is unbiased can hear this case?

To request another judge you would have to file a motion asking that the judge recuse him or herself. The motion must contain specific facts as to why the judge is biased or how there is an appearance of impropriety.
