Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New York

problem with car repair shop

I left my car to a repair shop for a faulty light. The same afternoon they called me saying they found a crack on the windshield 1.5 foot long. They claim it was there when I left them the car which it's not the case.

The guy at the shop also inspected the car before I left founding nothing wrong with the windshield.

What should I do to have the windshield changed by them?

I'm not an american citizen and this is the first time I live in the USA. I don't really know how to behave in these situations. should I call the police and file a report or somrthing similar before going to a lawyer?

thanks

Re: problem with car repair shop

Contact your insurance company. Explain the situation. The repair shop should be responsible for the deductible.

Mike.
