Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New York
Proving the assault is EZ. Getting a $ judgement might be tougher.
I need a lawyer. But, it seems that since I was not injured in the assault no one wants to represent me. The details;
I am a customer who was assaulted on 2/17/06 inside Men's Wearhouse at 380 Madison, NYC, 212.856.9008, by the Men's Wearhouse Assistant Manager, Mr. Ryan Chaplin.
Why was I assaulted? I don't know. But in my attempt to return merchandise I was assaulted.
After the assault, other members of the Men's Wearhouse staff held Ryan Chaplin back and luckily he did not assault me a second time. Immediately after the assault, I called 911. The New York Police Department arrived and I spoke with Officer Meehan. I requested a police report. The Officer indicated that there was nothing he could do because no one was injured.

If no one was injured, where is the basis for damages? Unless you're incredibly wealthy and can afford to spend a lot of money to make a point, then why should an attorney spend his/her time on this?
