Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New York
settlement vs. fighting it out
defendant's attorney has been messing with me during this entire matter. at long last we arrived at a settlement, which was ''so ordered'' by the judge. there were time guidelines in the stip, but defendant's attorney did not bothert to heed them, and didn't send me the paperwork until after I went to Court for an order to show cause and to vacate due to contempt. now, I got the papers. Do I stand to gain anything by trying to vacate the settlement and fighting it out and getting a better deal, or should i sign papers and send them to someone who has been playing games all along and be stuck with an unsatisfactory settlement, and still risk having to go after him for the money once he has my signature. any suggestions? thanks a lot

Re: settlement vs. fighting it out
I assume you are a pro se litigant. Well if you actually have a settlement you are the one and gazillion pro se litigant. You are very lucky. However, if I were you I would consult with an attorney to see if the settlement is right for you or if you should continue to fight.
If you would like to meet and have me review your case and give my opinion give me a call. My review will not be free but I think it behooves you to get a professional opinion.
