Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New York
small claims civil judgement 2000
My wife and I are having trouble getting our credit approved because her credit report came back with a ''civil judgement'' dated 2000, that she knew nothing about. It seems it was froma plumber who she had a problem with, when living in Jamestown, NY in 2000. What is the quickest and easiest way to deal with this and have it removed from her credit report?

The easiest way is to pay it. Defects may be present in the judgment, but might cost more than the judgment. See if you or your lawyer can contact the judgment creditor and make an offer of settlement. sometimes it's less than the face amount.
