Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New York

my ex wants his things back from my apt that have been left for 4 months now, hes threatening and aggressive. Do I have legal right to keep his property due to past issues of property damage he has done to me ?????

Just give him back the money. Trust me. I have represented people in conversation actions and they spent thousands of dollars on this same fact pattern. Cut the ties with this guy, cut your losses and move on. You do not want to go down this road... guaranteed you will be miserable and poor.
