Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New York
Unlicensed Driver Accident
Unlicensed driver of an insured auto had an minor accident 2 years ago where he rear-ended a NYC Dept. of Sanitation garbage truck. On 4/14 of this year he was sued for 1 million dollars for personal injury, etc. by one of the drivers. The driver has no assets except his salary.
1. Will he be represented by the lawyer of the covering insurance?
2.If covered, will the insurance company be liable for any judgement against?
3.If not covered by insurance and the driver has no assets what are the options for collecting any damages awarded?
Thank you in advance for any assistance.
