when will I receive my money?

Last September I won a civil judge-

ment for $5000.00. I've yet to rec-

eive my money.

How long can they hold my money

before they send it to me?

This is one of the most common questions I receive. The answer is you WON'T receive your money. YOU have to collect it.

I think too many people watch the People's Court and just expect that they will be handed a check. It does not happen that way at all. In fact, the hardest part of the case often is collecting.

Enforcing a judgment is too complex a procedure for me to explain to you here. I'd suggest you contact the local Marshal or Sheriff for tips or you may have to pay an attorney.
