Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New York
New York lawyers must have list of things they can charge for and cannot charge for. Where can I find that and specifically can they charge for the following and how can I find that in writing:
Order to show cause
Discovery and Notice
Thanks

Perhaps I don't understand your question, or you need to be more specific, but there is no list of things that lawyers can charge or can't charge. What you need to do is look carefully at your retainer agreement with the lawyer. Lawyer and client can make whatever arrangement they want as far as what things the client will not be charged for. However, a typical retainer providing for hourly billing will include all necessary work to properly represent you. That includes drafting, or responding to, orders to show cause, and discovery notices.
If you are disputing a fee you must let the attorney know or it will be deemed accepted by you.
You have the right to bring the attorney to "fee dispute" arbitration.
Orders to show cause/motions are very time consuming.
