Legal Question in Health Care Law in New York
Missed Appointment: How much is legal?
I was notified by my dentist I was going to be charged a ''small fee'' for a missed appointment. Later I find out the fee was $300 - they charged me $50 per 1/2 hr of an appointment which was supposed to be 3 hours long. My next appointment, however, was less than an hour long (which means the one I missed wouldn't have been longer that that). Can they do this?

Re: Missed Appointment: How much is legal?
As much as they can get. Offer to pay what you think is reasonable. If they refuse, tell them that you will file a complaint with the NYS Department of Education and the Dental Asscoaition. The first issues the license and the second is the dental umbrella group.
That amount is outrageous..how much does the dentist charge of the work is actually done?
Good Luck
