Legal Question in Immigration Law in New York
adjustment of status
Recently, INS denied my friend's daughter's I-485 application. The base for this denial is that my friend's daughter is married and she is not eligible for adjustment of status in the category of children under 21 and unmarried. My fried is an asylee and her daughter is derivitive asylee status. Please let me know how she can adjust her status as a permenant resident.

Re: adjustment of status
Once she's over 21 and married, she's no longer derivative asylee. Try to see if her husband can petition for her, if he's U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
