Legal Question in Immigration Law in New York

Please help. I'm trying to apply for citizenship but I had a run in with the law in 2005. I was charged with class E felony in insurance fraud 4th degree 176.15 Which I had no power and was tricked to plea guilty so I don't do anytime and so they can close they case and not to drag me into courts.. They gave me conditional discharge for 3 years. To fill out the application the lawyers ask for way too much and don't have the money for them to fill out the application if I can do it myself.. What is the possibility of filling out the application myself and going thru without getting a lawyer.

Thanks in advance!

You could try to do it yourself, anything is possible. However, if you are not familiar with researching immigration law and comparing it to the elements of the crime that you were convicted of, your chances of sucessfully doing it yourself are not very good.

Any Immigration Lawyer would have to examine the wording of the law you were convicted of, the sentencing minutes, plea agreement and arrest report to see if it is possible for you to apply for naturalization and if not if there is a way to fix it so you can successfully naturalize.

I strongly recommend that you meet with an immigration attorney and show him your the court documents and other associated immigration documents so he can advise you as to what options, if any, are available.
