Re: Becominng a Citizen

There are two exceptions to the English langauge requirement to become a citizen. If you have been residing in the United States with a green card for 15 years and are over the age of 55, you can be exempt from the English language requirements. Also, if you have been a green card holder for 20 years or more and are over 50 years of age, you may also be exempt.

Regardless of the English language exemption, you are still required to pass the civics test (US Government history test).

Hope this information helps. Should you require legal assistance in preparing for your citizenship application/test, please do not hesistate to call me.
