I am a US citizen. My father(on visitors visa) was hospitalized last on visit to US(no hospital bills were paid). I want to sponser him to US on a green card. Could I do that without getting into trouble?

It should not be an issue. I advise meeting and retaining an immigration attorney to handle your case. For a free consultation give me a call.

If you are petitioning for your father, you will need to file an affidavit of support. If there are outstanding debts in your name or his I do think it could come up since you must be honest on all documents that you file with USCIS. I would make an effort to find a way to resolve the matter.
