Legal Question in Immigration Law in New York

I came to usa in April 2000 on fiancee visa, married in august 2000 to us citizen , I was granted perminant residency in August 2003. My marriage was annulled in Jan 2004 five months 20 days after my perminant resident status was granted..Will there be any problem in granting citizenship to me, as my marriage was annulled with the us citizen? I completed five yeras of my green card status by august of 2008. Please advice me on this. thanks.

The fact the marriage was annuled would not bar you from filing for naturalization.

However, it is advisable you speak with an immigration lawyer on the reason for the annulment before filing any future paperwork with USCIS.

You should be alright as long as there was no fraud involved in obtaining your green card and there are no other extenuating matters at hand.

You should consult an immigration attorney in navigating this process.

You are filing after 5 years, thus it should not be a problem, however you may be questioned about your marriage whether in was bona fide etc., therefore it is recommended to consult an immigration attorney.
