Legal Question in Immigration Law in New York

Hi I have a US citizenship question.

I currently have a US passport as my step father adopted me when he married my mother years ago. I remember coming to the US and applying for a green card but the card was subsequently used to apply for my US passport as I was a minor. I never received/applied for a naturalisation certificate.

My step father and I had a falling out and he claims that my green card is scheduled to expire this year and that he will not be willing to help me with anything related to my immigration.

My question is that can I apply for a naturalisation certificate/ do I need the naturalisation certificate given that I already have a US passport?

Thank you in advance for your assistance

If you have a U.S. passport, then you are a U.S. citizen. Meaning, you would not have a "greencard", as that is only for Legal Permanent Residents, not citizens.

You do not need a naturalization certificate, since you already have a U.S. passport.

Moreover, as a U.S. citizen, your step father would no longer be involved with any "immigration issues", as are there are none!
