Legal Question in Immigration Law in New York

Citizenship re-interview

Hi,

I have applied for my US citizenship 5 years ago. I recently filed a mandamus action in July. I finally received answers from USCIS for fingerprints (which I did early Oct) & a re-interview. I went prepared for the interview, only to be given the run around about the officer not being there, and they don't have all my files, and I can reschedule for the next week which i did, but they've asked me to bring back my marriage certificate, 02, 03 & 04 Income tax with 2 passport size photos. I'm a bit confused and frustrated. Have anyone ever heard of this? What should I do? Why do i need photos for my citizenship? What does my marriage certificate has to do with this? I did not receive my greencard through marriage. Should I get a lawyer to further assist me? Should I be worried, or is this how USCIS is operating these days? Please help!!! Thanks!

Re: Citizenship re-interview

There may be different reasons why they are asking you for the information that you listed, especially since you filed such a long time ago. From your post it sounds like you applied on your own. You may want to consider consulting with an attorney to discuss their request and to attend the interview with you.

If you would like to discuss in further detail, please do not hesitate to contact me directly.
