Legal Question in Immigration Law in New York

Citizenship

hello,

My 10 year green card will expire in July 2009. I intend to apply for citizenship. Do I need to renew the green card first and then apply for citizenship or can I do them both at the same time. If I do them simultaneously, do I need to pay the fingerprinting fee twice or just once? Thank you.

Re: Citizenship

You can apply for them both at the same time. You will have to pay the fee for both applications. If the I-90 is not adjudicated by the time your naturalization application is ready for adjudication than CIS will review them both at the same time. I would recommend that you contact an attorney to determine your eligibility to file your application prior to doing so.

Re: Citizenship

You may apply simultaneously, however will have to pay full fees for both applications. Since both applications may bear consequences, it is recommend to seek an assistance from immigration attorney.
