Legal Question in Immigration Law in New York

Deportation

My boyfriend overstayed his 6 month visiting visa by 3 months and just received a letter in the mail advising that he must leave within 2weeks. If we got married before the 2 weeks would that be considered or is it too late?

Re: Deportation

A person who overstayed his visa probably will be able to adjust his status by bona fide marriage with a U.S. citizen. For a person who is in deportation proceeding and who wants to adjust his status is extremely important to consult with an experienced immigration attorney. You must provide additional information about type of visa, information about letter etc.

For additional information you can contact me directly.

Re: Deportation

It depends on who this letter was from, whether your boyfriend is in deportation, and whether you are a U.S. Citizen. You might want to consult a lawyer on this matter. You can contact our firm if you need additional information.
