Legal Question in Immigration Law in New York

Hi, I got deported without a lawyer present. I didn't have the money at the time. Adjustment of status was denied, even though I have no criminal record, been here over 20 years, paying my taxes, etc..

My US citizen husband is on SSI. How difficult is it to reopen my case ?? I heard that Obama passed a bill stating that even immigrants have the right to have a lawyer present. I also found out that I had a Judge, who deports everyone and that there are a lot of complaints about hus unprofessional behavior.

How much would it cost to get my case reopened and do I have a chance? I live in NYC.

Unfortunately there are no laws that award immigrants a right to representation in removal proceedings. There may, however, be a basis to reopen your case especially if your husband is a disabled US citizen. I am based in New York City and would like to help you if I can.
