Legal Question in Immigration Law in New York

excessive wait time for response after interview

I filed an N-400 application in May of 2007. I underwent the interview process in December of 2007. After about 2 months of waiting, i called USCIS to check on the status of my application. They instructed me to wait for the customary 90 day period to elapse before inquiring further. I called USCIS back exactly 90 days from the date of my interview. Only after using an assertive tone did they finally say that they would send a service request to the office where i filed to update me on my application. They also said this could take 45 days to be honored. Is there anything else i can do to expedite this process as my mother and brother both have become citizens without such seemingly callousness and delay.

Re: excessive wait time for response after interview

That might be a case where government delays your case because of a name check of fingerprints check (called security check). If it is not resolved soon, you will need to file a special law suit in order to complete this matter.
