Legal Question in Immigration Law in New York

Help!

My friend is here from Honduras illegaly for a few years. They were detained in Texas and released. They recieved no other info from immigration. What can they do for help?If here illegaly but, law abiding.Would role would marriage play?

If your friend originally entered the US illegally (without inspection), then marriage will not save him/her. If he/she simply overstayed his/her visa, then your friend can likely become legal by marrying a US citizen and applying for a green card.

By stating that you friend in the U.S. illiegaly, do you mean that he overstayed his visa/ or entered without inspection? Generally, by bona fide marriage with a U.S. citizen, a person who overstayed his visa can adjust his/her status.
