Legal Question in Immigration Law in New York
My friends 26 year old US Citizen gf
My friend came here in 1994 on a
G-4 visa & applied for a work visa with the current employer in April 2000. hes planning to marry this girl. Does the fact that the girl has never worked in her life (nor filed for tax returns) affect the filing process and the time he has to wait for a legal status.

An individual must be making more than 125% of the minimum poverty guidelines to be able to sponsor a relative for a Green Card.

If your friend marries a US citizen he would be regarded as an immediate relative and would be immediately able to apply to adjust his status to that of permanent resident.
As his Fiancee is not working you would need to combine someone elses income to satisfy the affidavit of support application
Your friend should contact an attorney after he gets married to assist him with this. My contact information is below.
