Legal Question in Immigration Law in New York
g5 visa holder
im a g5 visa right now and is it possible that i can change my status from g5 to h1b1 because while im working as a g5 holder i also go to school as a license practitioner nurse do you think that i can change my visa? b'coz everytime i ask somebody regarding this matter they always say no. thank you

To change status to any other visa category, a G-5 visa holder must obtain the consent of the U.S. State Department in addition to satisfying other legal requirements. Otherwise, not knowing your specific circumstances I don't know why you believe you would not be able to change status to H-1b if you qualify for that status. In any event, inability to change status should not prevent you from seeking the new visa at a U.S. consulate abroad and then re-entering if you have been in valid legal status throughout your stay in the U.S.
