Legal Question in Immigration Law in New York

my girl friend is from Romania. We met online. She would like to use a travel Visa so she could come to USA. I would like to marry her eventually after she is here for awhile It would be without the intention of marriage on her part as she would not know about it until i propose to her when she gets here........The question is that she has no friends or family in USA. so what should she tell the consular at the Immigration as to why she is going to USA or what are her intentions.

..im afraid that if she tells them she is going to meet some guy she met on line who will show her NY City and other touristy places that they will deny her..

...i could tell her to tell consular that she will stay with friends who are a family while she is in USA and give her my parents name and sister..what do you think is best to do..i appreciate your insight in this matter thank you

A person applying for a B-2 visa no longer needs a "sponsor", as was required many years ago.

She just needs to tell the Consulate that she wishes to go to the United States as a tourist; to see NYC, etc. She should not need to tell them where or with whom she is staying. Most tourists stay at a hotel, not with friends or family. It is not uncommon for young, foreign travelers to stay at a youth hostel, also.

You are correct that if she says she is staying with a potential boyfriend, her visa could be denied, if they believe she has immigrant intent.

Please let me know if you, or she, have any further questions.

Good luck to you both; I hope it works out!
