Legal Question in Immigration Law in New York
Hi,
I am a student in the US holding an F-1 visa. A friend of mine is threatening me with closing my student visa. He signed the sponsor papers for my housing. He promised to give me housing while im in school. I received financial aid from Europe for my studies and together with his housing help i had enough money to get a student visa.
Now he refuses to give me housing and threatens me with going to homeland security and telling them that he is not supporting me anymore. He also threatens me to tell them that i dont have enough money to support myself in the country. Can his action result in me losing my visa status.
Thank you!

Hello:
He does not have that power. Simply get evidence you will be supported by someone else. Additionally, the fact he originally stated he would support you put him on the hook if he backs out.
