Legal Question in Immigration Law in New York
My husband filed our i130/i485(me and my kids). We filed it in july 2011 and checks were cashed on august of 2011 but we never got any receipt notice. Then on feb. 14 we send them copies of all the applications and the checks that were cashed and still till now we don't hear anything from them. I have the tracking number and it says that they received the papers 2/16. So how long will it take for them to send us update with our application.I'm so stress and anxious. Everyday is like hell.I will appreciate it so much if anybody can answer me and give me advice. I don't know if i have to look for another lawyer.

Hello:
The receipt notice should have come by now.
Formal Inquiry
Sometimes a file gets lost or misplaced with the government. Sometimes the file simply gets put into a continuation unit only to stay there until a Formal Inquiry is done. This firm can prepare a Formal Inquiry in order to determine exactly what is the situation with this case. After the Formal Inquiry, we should be able to tell you where the case is and what is its status. Normally, it takes about 90 days for the Formal Inquiry to get the information needed.
