Generally, the son's departure should not affect the father's immigration process. However, it may be best to contact an attorney and give more details, such as whether you are a US Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident, current status of your husband, etc., in order to get a definite answer.
Please note that this is very general information and should not be considered as legal advice. If you have more (specific) questions, please do not hesitate to contact our office for a consultation. You can visit our website http://www.parwanilawfirm.com for further details.
I would need additional information regarding your particular case before I could comment on it properly.
However, what I can say is that USCIS will want to know who is going to live there, and why has he change his mind.
Any affect that his son's return to his country of origin will have on your husband's position will depend on the information that was originally given by you to USCIS regarding his son when you originally filed the petition.
