Legal Question in Immigration Law in New York

I-751 Removal of Conditions for a Spouse

My husband is a US citizen and I am Canadian. We have submitted this application with all the proper documentation: tax returns, affidavits, photos, correspondence etc proving our marriage to be legitimate.

We just received a notice stating that they require more evidence as they do not feel our marriage was entered into in good faith. This is a standard document - not specifically for us.

Can we simply submit additional evidence: new tax returns, wills, lease etc or should we get a lawyer. Our marriage is legitimate - we have a dog for goodness sakes.

It is advisable to atleast consult with an attorney to review the documentation that was already submitted and discuss what further could be added in order to satisfy USCIS.

USCIS may find certain types of evidence more persuasive which is one reason you may have received the request for additional evidence.
