Immigration Remarriage
If an immigrant goes through a divorce before her status is legalized, is remarrying someone else not allowed?

Remarrying another person would not necessarily preclude the alien from completing his or her permanent residence process and becoming a "green card" holder. The real question to ask is whether the original marriage on which the family-based immigration petition was based was bona-fide. It is also important to know at what stage in the process the final divorce decree was obtained. Contact an immigration attorney to get a specific answer to your specific situation.
