Legal Question in Immigration Law in New York
An inquiry from a medlawplus user
Hi,
Good day .I am a legal resident on a H4 visa in USA. I got an opportunity to join the US army and my recruiter says that green card processing can be expedited if applied through Army. Also it takes less than 2 yrs to get it. If so I am interested in contacting you for a personal consultation regarding this. Can you please confirm as to what extent the above information given to me is true.
thanks

There are certain expedited procedures available to foreign nationals who join the military (i.e. ability to apply for your green card and/or naturalization for you and family members). You should consult directly with an attorney to discuss the exact procedures and your eligibility.

Hi,
Actually, if you serve in the Armed Forces during a time of declared hostilities designated by the President (such as now), you can apply for expedited naturalization without having to obtain lawful permanent residence first.
Please feel free to contact me to schedule a consultation so we can discuss further.
Sincerely,
Tsui Yee
