Marriage to a canadian question
I have a hypothetical question. I am an American citizen and my Girlfriend is a Canadian citizen. If we on a whim decided to elope while she is here visiting (Legally but without a visa or form I-94 from the customs booth) could she stay here while the paperwork was filed for a k-1 visa. We love each other and neither of us can bear the thought of being legally married and separated for the prolonged amount of time that it takes to obtain a K-1. Any help on this subject would be much appreciated as the internet is full of woefully inadequate info on the subject.
