I am married from Guyana came to the us on a visitor visa and overstayed my mom files a petition for me (mom is citizen) will I have to return home for interview

Not only will you have to apply for your immigrant visa abroad, but you could very well be denied for accruing illegal presence in the United States, and thus facing a bar to admissibility.
