Legal Question in Immigration Law in New York
Wants to marry a non-U.S. citizen
Some time ago while on vacation in Jamaica I met a woman and we are now engaged to be married. I want to know if it would be better to marry her in Jamaica or in the U.S. Additionally, to marry her in the U.S. what papers would she need? I would appreciate any and all information that can be provided to me in this matter.
Best regards

If your fiance is still abroad, she would have to file for a K-1 Visa prior to entry. Upon your marriage, she would be required to submit an application to adjust her status. If, however, she is currently in the U.S. she may file for an adjustment of status immediately upon getting married.

Dear Sir,
If your fiance is still abroad she would most likely have to apply for a fiance visa before entering the U.S. Thereafter, you would be need to file for her adjustment of status upon marrying her within the requisite 90 days.
If your spouse is already in the U.S., you can get married and file immediately for the adjustment of status. It is advisable to speak in detail with a qualified immigration attorney before proceeding.
