Legal Question in Immigration Law in New York
Minor offences
If a person got into trouble for a minor offence while at the age of 18, that went to court, paid a fine and has not been in trouble with the law since, now has plans to marry a US citizen, does this affect the non US citizen from becoming a US citizen for in the future.

Re: Minor offences
It might be possible for an alien to adjust his non-immigrant status to that of a lawful permanent resident (green card holder) given that the alien was inspected when he or she entered the United States. However, this is not an easy case. I strongly encourage you to retain an immigration attorney for this matter. I have successfully handled similar cases in the past and would be happy to help you.
Re: Minor offences
"minor offense" is very vague. While you may believe your offense was "minor" it may affect your immigration situation. You should consult with an immigration attorney to discuss whether your offense is likely to impact your future immigration issues.
Should you wish to discuss your case with us, feel free to give us a call to set up a consultation.
Best wishes!
