Legal Question in Immigration Law in New York
NYC born and raised want to marry a Peru gentleman
Hi, I am--name removed--US Citizen. The person I would love to marry is living out of the U.S. I have not seen him since we were teenagers, about 10 years. We were kept apart. We kept intouch and still keep intouch by phone. Now that we are both adults we want to make our lives together. Would it be suitable for me to submit--name removed--fiancee visa or do I have to go to him and marry him where he is, in Peru? I would like to marry in the US, since my family is here, but if the process is faster for us to be together, by marrying him in Peru, then i will do that. Please advise.

If he's in Peru, then you may apply for a fiancee visa.
Keep in mind, one of the requirements is having met him in person within the last 2 years so you'll want to visit him anyhow.

You can file for fiance visa for him and once approved, he will enter USA and you can get married, or you can travel to Peru, get married and then file for him as your husband. Both ways will take some time so this is up to you which way you prefer.
