Legal Question in Immigration Law in New York

please help

my petition has been approved, i had done the fingerprints, medical and had the interview already....now do i have to file the I-485 to adjust my status and then receive my green card or i should receive the green card a little after the interview? my question is after the interview do i file some papers or i should have received me green card?

after the interview i have received a letter that my petition has been approved and to file I-485? is this how it works? or I-485 is filed in the beggining of the case and then after the interview just wait for the green card?

You have not provided enough details. What petition was approved? What kind of case did you file? Where was the interivew? Based on the infomration that you provided, it is not possible to give you an answer to your question.
