Legal Question in Immigration Law in New York
need help
Hi:
I had pleaded guilty with p.l. 240-20 due to shopliting of $90 in 1998. Sentenced 1 day community service and 1 year conditional discharge. Do I have troubles if I apply for green card. What should i need to do if i getting married with an us citizen?

You might wind up deported. Consult an immigration attorney before applying for citizenship.

You can apply for a green card without a problem. This offense does not bar you from adjusting status. You will need to file a series of forms with the INS after your marriage.
