Legal Question in Immigration Law in New York

i came here as LPR in 96 , i worked only for 2 months . do u think the uscis will denied me citizenship because i did not work for 10 years and I did not pay taxes. because i heard people say u need to have 5 years taxes.

You have to be able to prove that you have "good moral character," among other things, in order to be able to naturalize. Apart from having to prove that you have not committed crimes, including minor offences, you also need to establish that you filed and paid taxes during your entire stay in the U.S. The review of your entire life history is not unlikely and requires that you be prepared to account for any and all infractions, big or small, if you want to avoid denial. In some instances, filing a petition for naturalization that reveals negative history may result in a removal (deportation) action. USCIS has been known to be quite thorough and aggressive in pursuing such cases. Contact an immigration attorney for advice on how to approach your case.
