Legal Question in Immigration Law in New York

I recently applied for citizenship, my interview went quite well considering I answered all questions and the officer seemed to be all satisfied.

I have a DWI record from 2003. During the interview , the officer took my court disposition paper to put in my file.

Today I received a letter from USCIS asking for the proof of court disposition again, plus a proof of alcohol treatment program.

I am not sure if he lost the original court paper I gave him but that's ok, I can go to the court to get another copy, no problem.

What I don't understand is, why he is asking for a proof of alcohol treatment program because the court never ordered me to go through such program 11 years ago. I don't even drink socially ever since. I have my New York State driver license for more than 7 years, I didn't even get a single ticket...

I have to send required papers to USCIS by May 28. Should I go through an alcohol treatment program before I mail my papers or just explain that I was never ordered to complete such a program by the court.

Thanks very much in advance.

You might want to hire an immigration attorney to respond to the Request for Evidence.

If not, you can explain to USCIS that an alcohol treatment program was never required by the Court, & submit another complete, certified Court disposition, highlighting the portions related to sentencing.

Good luck!
