Legal Question in Immigration Law in New York
Please Help! (Relief or Protection )
I beleive that my son will be Deported back to the Dom,Rep we don't know the answer as of yet, we did not really mind if he got deported or not, neither did he. But he just told us that he is getting threatning letters in prison from what seems to be friends of the other guy which was also involved in my son's case, my son did not cooperate with the fed's he did not have anything else to say he just plea guilty to what he knew he did wrong, but now this people are writting letters from the Dominican Republic to his prison saying that when he get's deported they will be waiting for him. Now we are very scare because the suspects even have our family's address back home, they even had the gutts of going to my mother's house and telling her to wait for her grandson in a cuffing. what can we do to help, i don't want him to get deported where he is going to probably find himself dead, can he be sent somewhere else? he says that he preffers doing more time than knowing that his family is in danger. He is coming out in 4 months and time is running out; please help!

Re: Please Help! (Relief or Protection )
This sounds like a serious situation and if you have not already consulted an attorney in person, I would strongly urge you to do so. I am not sure if your son has been placed in removal proceedings yet or if he is already in proceedings, at what stage his case is at. This is important because if he fears returning to his native country on the basis of fear of persection from government officials or people who the government cannot control, he may be eligible for apply for relief from deportation. However, this also depends on what your son was convicted of, because asylum is NOT available for people convicted of an aggavated felony.
Should you wish to consult with our office, please do not hesitate to call us. We specialize in deportation defense.
Good Luck!
