Legal Question in Immigration Law in New York
Getting a Social Security number
I've applied for my alien registration card through marriage and have already received my EAD (Employment Authorization Document), however, I have not got a job yet. Can I get a social security number in order to apply for school or work?

Re: Getting a Social Security number
The EAD card allows you to work anywhere without applying for separate authorization. You can show the employer your EAD for proof of eligibility to work.
You may apply for a social security # at your local office
