my wife has one month left on her j1 work visa. we are currently filing her permanent residence status adjustment forms. do we have enough time. is there a way to extend her work visa while she is her so we can save the money for the rest of the forms or do we have to do it now all together. what should we do??

You will want to set a consultation to fully go over the situation. I am assuming you are a US citizen, and assuming that she is not subject to the 2 year home residency requirement. But I am not clear as to which forms you were hoping to file now versus later. The fee for the I-485 does include the initial fees for an employment authorization card. However, with only one month left on her J visa, she is likely to have a gap in time without authorization to be working. If I can be of further assistance please let me know.
