Legal Question in Immigration Law in New York

My wife's mother would like to come to the United States and visit us. My wife is currently processing her immigration situation from illegal to legal status. I'm a citizen. Can we bring her mom to visit from Peru on my behalf? She's 80 years old.

There is no "sponsorship" requirement for a B-2 visitor visa anymore. The U.S. Embassy will want to see that the mother has ties to Peru & that she won't overstay her visa or have immigrant intent. Based on the facts you have provided, the U.S. Embassy could deny a B-2 visa for the mother.
