Legal Question in Immigration Law in New York

Last year, my neighbor punched me in the back, and in self-defense, I pushed her away. I called the police and the police came to talk to each of us separately. The police came to me first and I told them what happened. Later, the police went to my neighbor to talk with her. When the police came back to me, they asked me for my passport and were gone for about 10 to 15 minutes. I did not know what happened in that period of time. When the police came back, they gave both of us an incident information slip. The date and time of the occurrence were written on it, and "harrassment" was written under "location of occurrence" and under "crime." The complaint report number was blank and circled. The police officers told us to call a telephone number written on the slip to ask for the complaint report number. This is my question, in three years I will be applying for citizenship status, will this incident have any effect on it, and if so, how can I deal with it?

However, what I can say is when the US Immigration Service conducts their criminal background search on you it will come up.

Were you finger printed and formally arrested?

You will be asked about it and how it was resolved?

Try to get a copy of the complaint from the precinct.
