Legal Question in Insurance Law in New York
My 81 year old mother's financial advisor missed making her life insurance payment and the policy lapsed. He tried to have the policy reinstated but it was denied by the company. Do we have any recourse? They live in NY.

First question is what do you mean they refused to reinstate the policy? This is fishy. Second, was this a whole life product, and what kind of anti-lapse provision is in effect? Third, your financial adviser should notify his malpractice insurance company, and the company should send you a "pre-claim" invitation to negotiate. If you don't here from the insurance company then you will need to sue pronto.
You have recourse but you're going to need to hire an attorney.
