Damage estimate time period
After an accident is reported to the insurance company, is ther a timeframe in which an estimate of damages must be done in order to collect from the party at fault?

No. however the insurance company will close its file if they receive no claim within a reasonable time. You have 3 years from the date of occurrence to institute legal proceedings.
