Legal Question in Insurance Law in New York

exclusion on insurance policy

My father and i have a joint insurance policy on our automobile. I recently had my drivers license revoked due to a DWI. My insurance agent after raising the rates for my indescretion now states that my father can not have me removed from the policy since I still live in the house and I must be calculated into the premium even though I can not drive the vehicle. Is this correct? I feel that this is contrary to the law that states my license must be revoked in which case I can not drive and therefore why should I maintain insurance for collision and liability?

Re: exclusion on insurance policy

Switch brokers and carriers. I am pretty sure if you are unlicensed and you don't own the car on the policy you don't have to be on the policy.

If you have to be on the policy, however, its fair.
