Fire insurance claim's
a fire in my basement apt was, as deemed by the fire department, caused by a portable electric heater.
this heater was provided by the landlord when I moved in. the unit was plugged in but turned off at the time of the incident. is the landlord is responible in this situation?

Hello-
In a case such as this, the insurance company will look at the report of the fire marshall/department. It is a large burden to overcome. YOU must show how the heater was defective and/or that the landlord knew of it. You must remember that at the time, in your apartment, YOU had exclusive control over it.
