Insurance for a Rental Car
Is it illegal to drive a rental car which you are not insured under? What is the consequences of doing so?

It's unlawful to operate the car if you're not the authorized driver. The principal legal consequence is that you might not have insurance for a collision; or, if the insurance does cover the accident, the insurer can pursue both the driver (for negligent driving) and the renter (for breach of the rental agreement).
